Citizens For Europe is a dynamic non-profit and non-partisan association based in Berlin. Focusing on EU citizenship, migration and political participation issues it carries out a diverse range of innovative projects on local and European level.
The journal Open Citizenship combines scientific discourses on the above issues with articles and reports from civil society actors, opinion leaders and citizens. Its objective is to contribute to the development of a new and modern concept of citizenship and to serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and opinions.
About the traineeship:
Start: 24 October 2011
Duration: min. 6 months
Workload: 2 days a week
Worktime: flexible
Allowance: 300€/month
The ideal candidate will become a full member of the journal’s small and dedicated team.
The traineeship includes following Tasks:
-editing and proofreading articles, topic: EU mobility
-generating ideas for content and contributors from politics, academia and civil society
-corresponding with authors, interview partners and other contributors
-helping to generate and stick to the journal’s publication schedule
-using OJS to manage the editorial process and publish articles online
Skills and Experiences:
-impeccable written English, equivalent to native speaker
-editorial experience, preferably editing academic writing
-EU interest and experience
-able to work independently and in small groups; self-starter
-flexible schedule
-layout, design, graphics experience (e.g., with InDesign, Adobe CS) a major plus
-web experience a plus
